George F. Will.....Fred Thompson Belly-Flops into the Presidential Pool

Excerpts from "A Rocky Rollout for Thompson" by George F Will at Washingtonpost.com:

--"Sean Hannity, who is no Torquemada conducting inquisitions of conservatives, asked Thompson: 'When you look at the other current crop of candidates -- Republicans -- where is the distinction between your positions and what you view as theirs?' Thompson replied: 'Well, to tell you the truth, I haven't spent a whole lot of time going into the details of their positions.'"

--"He also is unfamiliar with the details of his own positions. Consider his confusion the next day when talk radio host Laura Ingraham asked him about something he ardently supported -- the McCain-Feingold expansion of government regulation of political speech. His rambling, incoherent explanation was just clear enough to be alarming about what he believes, misremembers and does not know."

--"Is there, however, a huge cash value in the role for which he is auditioning -- darling of religious conservatives? Perhaps. But their aspiring darling recently said in South Carolina, 'I attend church when I'm in Tennessee. I'm in McLean right now. I don't attend regularly when I'm up there.'
'Right now'? He has been living 'up there' in that upscale inside-the-Beltway Washington suburb, honing his 'Aw, shucks, I'm just an ole Washington outsider' act, for years. Long enough to have noticed that McLean is planted thick with churches. Going to church is, of course, optional -- unless you are aiming to fill some supposed piety void in the Republican field."

Look over the whole article for a great read......I almost felt sorry for the guy, but that passed as I wondered, "Is he really this clueless or is it just an act"......regardless, our nation does not need incompetence right now--with or without the acting.

Governor Mitt Romney on the Sixth Anniversary of September 11, 2001

"On this day, radical Islamists brought terror to our shores. It is hard for our minds to contemplate a human darkness so vile that it celebrates murder and the destruction of innocent lives. But we can honor the bright memories of the fallen. Each person, whether taken in unknowing sacrifice or resigned to death after heroic struggle, stands in our mind's eye in the brilliant light of faith and patriotism. In the years since 9/11, the spreading evil of radical Jihad has been visited on other cities around the world. Yet, our resolve remains strong. From soldiers guarding our liberty on foreign shores to those of us living under the umbrella of the protection they provide, we are united in remembering loved ones lost on that day and in our determination to protect our homeland from future attacks."--Mitt Romney

The Prayer of the Children

"End the wars and suffering abroad by ending the wars and suffering within your own heart by forgiveness and love.......

Can't you hear the prayer of the children?"

Today, I'm sadly reminded of our duties to the world. I often ask myself "why does America always have to get involved?".....Then I'm reminded--if we don't help heal the world we live in, chances are nobody will. This day is so difficult for us Americans.....God be with you all! God bless America!
